Learn first hand from professional, working artists with our festival's workshop series! Engage with artists and your peers as you learn Theatre, Dance, Creative Writing, Stage Combat, Sound Engineering, Filmography, and so much more.

Students are limited to 2-3 of these workshops, but don't worry.. there are plenty of pop up workshops to enjoy throughout the day! Please check your adjudication schedule to make sure nothing overlaps.

Musical Theatre Dance - Olivia CruzAnd 5-6-7-8! Bring your tap shoes for this all level musical theatre dance class. This class will consist of a warm up, some helpful audition tips, and a fun combo everyone will enjoy!

No need to bring anything but comfortable clothes and some water to stay hydrated.

Headshots - Nerys MullerGetting your headshots done can definitely be nerve-wracking, but let’s tackle those fears together! Learn how to take the best photos you’ve ever seen. Through the discussion of lighting design, posing, and facial expression, we’ll get you picture perfect for your next audition. Not to mention, you can keep your photos, too!

Creative Writing - Alma PesiriThis workshop is to encourage the creativity within you - to help you easily express in words what you feel. It's to remind participants of the power of words for poetry, school projects, stories, and all the times you want to present yourself.
Writing for Open Mic - Rebecca BonhamEverything poetry from creation to presentation! Join us for writing exercises, group review, and the opportunity to take the mic. Students should bring any poems previously written they’d like to read/review.
American Sign Language - Kristy WhildenLearn a brief bit of ASL history, the National Theatre of the Deaf, and the different ways to interpret theatre. Then, learn a Broadway song in sign language.
Performance Anxiety - Dr. Pete ArsenaultThis pop-up style workshop will cover tips to reduce the symptoms of performance anxiety.
Sound Engineering/ Recording/Music Business - Chris OraziDiscover the world of digital audio post-production and recording techniques for broadcast, music, and dialogue. Learn about mixing considerations, microphone techniques, and special effects application to enhance the audio experience.

Airbrushing_-_1[1]Master control and craft vibrant designs with precision as you explore the art of spray painting using airbrush machines.
Chalk_Art_-_1[1]Students will create small pictorials on sidewalk squares. “I see I say” will encourage participants to paint EYES and surround those images with positive verbiage.
Wearable Art - Sydnei SmithjordThis workshop will consist of a custom sneaker demo with students tricking out a wooden prototype that they will be able to take home.
Instrumental Jazz Improvisation - Earl PhillipsBring your instruments! We will be playing as a group (and individually if you choose) and talking about ways to begin practicing how to improvise!
Fabric Collage - Gloria Gammage DavisStudents will create unique compositions using layered fabric elements, exploring various techniques to spark creativity.
The Business of Art - Jennifer BatesExplore "The Art of Business" during this workshop, where you'll discover strategies for effectively marketing your work. Learn practical techniques to promote your creations and reach your target audience with impact.
Drawing from Life - Linda RobinsonThis workshop will consist of how to approach a landscape pencil drawing. Students will experience using references to create a landscape line drawing, focusing on composition, line, texture, and perspective.

Intro to Filmmaking - Bill HorinBill Horin is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, photographer, and founder of ArtC, a nonprofit arts organization. He is also the co-founder of CUT, an international short film festival. His workshop will emphasize the importance of storytelling as well as technique when creating a successful video or film.
Painting_CDs_-_1[1]Painting on CDs and taking an often discarded item and turning it into a treasure. You can paint your favorite song lyrics or whatever your heart desires.

Fresco Painting technique pop-up workshop - Danielle CartierVisit DC Gallery & Studio to learn how to make your own fresco. A fresco is a wet making painting technique used by muralists today. Make your own fresco dough, paint it with watercolor & take it home with you!
